Tomos
In 1960, the first Tomos mopeds were imported into the Netherlands by NV Vedezo (later Tomos Nederland in Epe). In 1962 a 90cc model was introduced. From 1966 onwards, the mopeds were also built by Tomos Nederland in Epe and later a factory was also built in America. The Tomos 4L, made in Epe (also called 4TL due to the confusing logo) with a four-speed foot shift, was particularly popular in the Netherlands.
An automatic moped followed in 1972.
Tomos made trials, cross and street machines, including road racing motorcycles. The Tomos factory in Epe was the last moped manufacturer in the Netherlands; production was stopped in December 2009.
The engine block that almost every Tomos model in the Netherlands has is the automatic A35 block. In the past, Tomos also made gear blocks. For example, 2-, 3-, 4- and 5-boxes were available.
