The Tomos 4TL
Tomos 4TL. The Tomos 4 TL is the counterpart to the Puch MS/MV. Although many Puch fanatics see the Tomos 4 TL as an imitation Puch, we think differently from a technical point of view. From 1954, Puch under the license of Puch Austria made Tomossen for the domestic market, because Puch had not closed the contract with Tomos after five years, Tomos was able to produce mopeds himself from 1960. In 1966, Epe was also built in the Netherlands. The Tomos 4 L, popularly 4 TL was very popular.
The Tomos 4TL
Because the frame was simply stronger than that of the Puch and the pricing more favourable, the Tomos 4 TL was sold a lot from 1969 to the early eighties. The Tomos 4 TL was very popular since the four-bin was already fairly revolutionary before that time. Still, for the handy guys among us, the 4-bin was fairly easy to convert into a 5-bin. Then with your Puch with a three handbox, of course, it became difficult for the traffic light against a 4 or 5 container Tomos 4 TL. By the way, the Tomos 4 TL is now worth more money by the year!

About the Tomos 4TL.
There is an automatic A35 block on this Tomos. This block is almost on all Tomos models in the Netherlands. This block has been in it since 1980 and is almost unchanged. It is often said that the A35 block is very similar to Puch's block. The big difference is that the Tomos has 2 automatic gears and with the Puch this is only one, the difference is easy to explain. The Tomos (2-speed) runs from 0-15 km/h in first gear, when the Tomos starts to make revs and the second gear is switched on at 15-25 km/h then you have a nice distribution. With just one gear, all the force generated from 2 gear at Tomos must now come from one gear. You can imagine that, of course, it is better if this power is distributed, hence they say that the A35 block is of more efficient than Puch's ZA50 block.
