Help with the selection of variator rollers
The variator rollers are part of the variator system. The variator, combined with the clutch, ensures that the scooter can reach its maximum speed from a standstill without needing to change gears. And this is achieved at a constant speed. If the engine has uneven speed performance, it indicates that the variator/clutch is not properly adjusted. There are different weights of variator rollers available to determine the correct speed.
Determining the correct weight is not always easy. If the weight of the rollers is incorrect, the scooter may have too much or too little speed. Finding the right ratio is necessary. When a scooter has a low RPM, your rollers will be too heavy, and when it has a high RPM, the rollers will be too light.
You can't really boost your scooter by just changing the variator rollers. The rollers do not increase the power. The weight of the rollers, as well as the compression spring and tension springs, need to be proportionate to each other to allow the scooter to accelerate optimally from a standstill to its top speed.

How to recognize wear?
The variator rollers are housed in a variator case mounted on the crankshaft. The variator case rotates at approximately 10,000 revolutions per minute. Since the rollers move within the variator case, they are also subject to wear. It's not possible to determine exactly how many kilometers the rollers need to be replaced. It depends partly on the driving style and also the type of scooter. Worn rollers have flat sides and no longer "roll" within the variator. This will result in uneven speed. In the video below, we show you how you can tell if your rollers are worn. Tip: Enable subtitles.
