Replace the scooter's rocker arm yourself

Replacing a rocker arm on your scooter is a task you can do yourself. Follow these steps to safely replace the rocker arm:

Step 1: Remove the cylinder head

Start by loosening the mounting screws that secure the cylinder head to the engine block. Carefully remove the cylinder head and set it aside.

Step 2: Remove the old rocker arm

Once the cylinder head is removed, you can carefully remove the old rocker arm from the valve train. Note any mounting clips or seals that hold the rocker arm in place.

Step 3: Install the new rocker arm

Install the new rocker arm into the valve train, making sure it is securely in place. Reattach the cylinder head to the engine block and secure it securely with the mounting screws.

Tumbler original or replica?

When choosing a new rocker arm for your scooter, you can choose between an original or a replica rocker arm. Both options have their pros and cons:

Original tumbler

An original rocker arm is made by your scooter manufacturer and is designed to fit and function perfectly in your specific model. Original rocker arms can be slightly more expensive, but often offer the best quality and reliability.

Replica tumbler

A replica tumbler is a recreated version of the original tumbler and can be a more affordable option. Although replica rocker arms can sometimes be of slightly lower quality, they can still perform well and be a suitable replacement for your scooter.

What function does a rocker arm have in your scooter or moped?

A rocker arm plays an essential role in the valve train of your scooter or moped. It is responsible for transmitting the motion from the camshaft to the valves, causing them to open and close at the correct time. This ensures optimal combustion and engine performance. Be sure to check rocker arms regularly and replace them if necessary to maintain the proper functioning of your engine.
