Caliper scooter

A brake caliper is an essential component of the disc brake system in your scooter. It is responsible for attaching and securing the brake pads, allowing them to move when braking. The brakes are the most important safety feature of your scooter. The brake caliper is typically located at the front of the scooter, although some scooters may have a rear brake caliper if they utilize a drum brake. There are different types of brake calipers available for various scooter models. Whether you need a Piaggio Zip brake caliper, Vespa brake caliper, Kymco Agility 50 brake caliper, or Vespa Sprint brake caliper, you can find the perfect one for your scooter here at Zandri.

Scooter brake caliper worn out?

Just like any other parts of your scooter, a brake caliper will eventually wear out and require replacement. You can easily replace the brake caliper yourself by purchasing a new one and mounting it on your scooter. We guarantee that you'll find the brake caliper you need for your scooter, regardless of the brand and model. There are several reasons why a brake caliper may no longer function properly. Below are some common causes of worn-out brake calipers.

The brake fluid

The operation of the brake caliper can be hindered if the brake fluid is depleted or if there is insufficient brake fluid in your scooter's system. You can easily check this by inspecting the level of the fluid in the reservoir located at the brake lever on your scooter's handlebar. However, even if the fluid level appears to be fine, there may still be an issue with the brake fluid. In that case, you can try replacing the brake fluid yourself. This might resolve the problem and restore proper functioning to your brake caliper.

The brake pads

If the problem persists after replacing the brake fluid, it is advisable to check the brake pads in your brake caliper. Brake pads are an integral part of the braking system in your scooter. They allow you to stop in a timely and gradual manner when you apply the brakes. If the brake pads are worn out, the friction material on the brake pads may be completely depleted. This can result in a grinding sound when braking. This is an indication that the brake pads need to be replaced, and you will need to purchase new brake pads.

Scooter brake caliper overhaul

If both your brake pads and brake fluid are in good condition, and yet your brake caliper continues to stick, you may consider overhauling your brake caliper. Please note that this is not an easy task, and for some calipers, there may not be available rebuild kits. In such cases, it is recommended to purchase a new brake caliper that you can replace yourself. To do this, you need to remove the old caliper from the fork and install the new caliper on your scooter. After installation, it is necessary to bleed the braking system. It is also advisable to replace the brake fluid after the installation. Following these steps, your brakes should be functioning properly again.

Different types of calipers

As mentioned before, you can find various types of calipers for different scooter models here. You can purchase a brake caliper for scooters such as the Kymco Agility 50, Piaggio ZIP, Vespa, and Vespa Sprint. For example, the Piaggio Zip 4T brake caliper is suitable for Piaggio, Vespa, and Vespa Sprint scooters. Additionally, you have the option to choose between black and red calipers. If you prefer a different color, you can also purchase caliper paint to give them a custom color. Furthermore, at Zandri, you will find all the necessary accessories for the installation and replacement of your calipers.
