The air filter of a scooter/moped/engine is the breathing center of the combustion engine. An engine needs gasoline and air; for the air, the engine needs an air filter to “breathe”. You wouldn't run so well even if you didn't have lungs. When a combustion engine does not have an air filter, it often runs very difficult. Therefore, always make sure that your air filter is clean and/or replaced once in a while. That's about once after 1500 kilometers, then after 2500 kilometers each time. This is often about the air filter element. In most scooters, mopeds and motorbikes, the element is a soft foam plate that filters all air as it blows through the filter. Replacing the air filter or air filter element on time is vitally important to the life of the engine! If it's replaced too late or not, sand and dirt can be sucked into the engine!
