Help with choosing scooter and moped helmets

Wearing a helmet is mandatory on a moped (45 km/h). It is recommended to replace the helmet immediately after an accident. There may be a fracture in the helmet shell that may not be visible! If a helmet is more than 5 years old without any damage, it is also recommended to replace it as the interior of the helmet wears out. According to experts, when a helmet falls forcefully on the ground, it can already be (invisibly) damaged in the shell.

It is very important that you choose a helmet that fits you well. Often, a helmet is purchased too large! A helmet should fit properly, but not pinch!

Helmets come in different versions:

Jet/Retro Helmets:

A type of helmet popular due to the open space at the bottom. Because this helmet is "smaller," it is also easier to store in the helmet compartment. This helmet is often used on a retro scooter/Vespa.

Full-Face Helmet:

This is a fully enclosed helmet with a visor that can be opened and closed. The full-face helmet provides complete head protection. In the event of an accident, the risk of permanent injury is lower compared to wearing a jet helmet. These helmets are commonly used on sporty scooters/mopeds. When trying on this helmet, make sure that it fits snugly around the cheeks: The full-face helmet should not feel "tight" on the forehead.

Modular Helmet:

The modular helmet is similar in design to a full-face helmet. These helmets are equipped with a flip-up chin bar. These helmets are particularly comfortable in the summer, as you can ride at low speeds with an open front. The fit is the same as a full-face helmet.

Motocross helmets:

Everything is in the name. The motocross helmet is primarily used in racing or enduro off-road motorcycles. A motocross helmet can be recognized by its pointed chin bar and a sun visor on top of the helmet. With most motocross helmets, the inner lining is removable and washable. Some motocross helmets come with an integrated visor, and if you don't have an integrated visor, you can use motocross goggles.

What size?

Zandri has prepared a size chart for you so that you can make the right size choice.

When getting a new helmet, keep in mind that the inner lining will conform to the shape of your head. The helmet should not be too tight to the point of discomfort. However, when the helmet is new, it should fit snugly around the cheeks. But the helmet should never pinch at the forehead.

All helmets in our range are ECE certified!
