What exactly does a bendix do in Chinese GY6 scooters?

An important part is the bendix; it connects and disconnects starter and combustion engine. With the bendix coupling, the axle of the starter engine has a very large pitch thread in which the pinion, which drives the combustion engine via the starter ring, fits like a nut. When the starter engine is switched on, the pinion will remain stationary for a while due to its slowness, forcing it into the starter ring through the thread. This connection causes a fairly large shock, which is why a shock-absorbing spring (bendix spring) has been installed. As a result, the bendix will not turn out and the scooter will not start. (this is one of the most common causes of failure to start.
